Customise Your Perfect Lifting Gantry System

When it comes to finding your ideal lifting gantry system it will be hard to buy one directly off the shelf that will suit your requirements. There is rarely one size fits all when it comes to this type of lifting framework, So if you have specific requirements then going direct to the manufacturers is the best and probably only option. See how to customise your perfect lifting gantry system here.

What can you customise on a Lifting Gantry System

Good question! The answer is pretty much anything IF you go to the manufacturers. Your exact dimensions and set up can be designed before the manufacturing begins. Add ons can also be stipulated at this stage so they can be incorporated into the design.

Customise your Perfect Lifting Gantry System

Here is a little about the general options;

Lifting Gantry Size

The range of lifting gantry sizes produced by our own experienced team start at 500kg lifting capacities and go up to the maximum 5000kg.

Each capacity has a choice of dimensions which is typically up to 4.5 meters high (under top beam) and 5 metres span.

The size and capacity is extremely important to get right and your choice will ultimately deduce the size of steel that will need to be used to ensure a strong and safe lifting gantry that can more than handle the stipulated safe working load.

The size and capacity will need much consideration on your part too; will it handle all your loads? Will it fit into the required place or places if its going to be used across multiple areas.

Think about storage too! Will it remain in situ or go into a storage area. If so will it need to be dismantled.

Dismantling and re-assembling our gantries can be completed with a few extra pairs of hands and possibly a forklift truck. The top beam is bolted to the two upright A-frame supports so these will need to be removed and replaced. Remember, steel is heavy so take care.

Lifting Gantry Add-ons and Extras

Once you have the size and capacity specifications down, its time to think about add ons and extras.

Again the add ons come with another set of questions to consider.

Is the ground level where it will be used? Parking jacks are the perfect add on for uneven flooring as a jack can be added near to each castor and are individually adjustable help to level out any unevenness. These jacks are also great for providing extra stability to these mobile gantry cranes.

If you are to be using powered lifting equipment on the gantry, such as a powered trolley and hoist then it may be prudent to consider the electrical safety side of things. A festoon or catenary system added at the top will safely hold power cables out of the way of moving parts. Isolator switches and knockout boxes can also be added during manufacture, these enable any power to be terminated quickly should the need arise. These are an excellent safety measure.

Another consideration is the feet itself. Although the mobile variety with heavy duty castors are the most popular system it is not the only option. If you only need to use the gantry in a single position, permanently then plated feet instead of wheels would probably be better suited. The large plates are welded on during manufacture and can be bolted into the ground for optimum stability.

Additional Lifting Gear For Gantries

Once your gantry has been manufactured then yo will need to think about extra equipment to compliment the gantry.

The gantry itself is a framework to position over a heavy load so that it can be lifted. However the gantry does not actually lift the load. Some kind of beam clamp or trolley will need to be fitted to the top beam in order to attach a lifting hoist. A clamp will remain in the same position where as a trolley can be moved across the beam. So consider your needs when choosing these options.

When it comes to the lifting hoist you may wish to choose a manual chain block to keep things simple and power free . Another popular option is an electric hoist which speeds up lifting tasks whilst removes the need for physical exertion.
